St. Clare of Assisi - Women's V-Neck T-Shirt
Of the two most famous saints of Assisi, St. Clare happily lived under the tutelage of her spiritual brother St. Francis and at the same time was able to establish and maintain almost singlehandedly the female Franciscans known as the Order of Poor Ladies (Clares). Sharing in the charism of radical poverty and asceticism, her intrepid life of sancity drew many women to follow suit. Throughout her 40 years as the mother of the order, she would help found 22 monastic houses and their affiliate convents totaling 110. Her health would suffer from her severe fasts but her soul would soar with her unquenchable love for Christ, her true spouse. The near absolute dedication to corporate poverty ignited the order’s mission with the poor and needy and the experiential proclamation of the Gospel. An example of her characteristic strength can be observed in the story of her exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in a monstrance: she defiantly warded off hoarding invaders by presenting them the Lord of Lords and calling upon his help. She has been commissioned to intercede for sufferers of eye disease, goldsmiths, laundry, and television. The original watercolor illustration is captured with quality on this soft cotton tee.
